Dorothy was born in Austin, Texas on October 12, 1936, to Albert and Medora Moreland. She grew up in the Austin area with her brothers Thomas and Wesley and her sisters, Mamie, Alberta, Bessie, Betty, Pearl and Marion. She graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in 1955 and married Claude "Buddy" Pittman on July 11, 1958.
Dorothy was an avid collector of many things and loved to travel with her family. She was well known for her homemade pralines and taught a chosen few the secret recipe with the greatest of love and patience. Dorothy was the greatest fan for all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her love and support of their school activities, graduations and accomplishments and of the Hays Las Panteras Fastpitch Softball Team, University of Texas at Dallas Softball Team, Concordia University at Texas Softball Team and the Hays Hurricanes Softball Team will be forever treasured and remembered. For those that knew Dorothy loved her, because it couldn't be any other way. She was the most kind, giving, loving and patient wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.
