Boonie Sanders went to be with his Lord and Savior, Sunday, September 18, in Gainesville Texas. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, September 22, at Waldo Funeral Home. Rev. Irby McKnight will officiate. Private committal services will be held at Akers Cemetery.

Boonie was born March 29, 1940 in Killeen, Texas to the late Carl and Frances (Moore) Sanders.

Boonie was a graduate of Oklahoma State University. While attending college, he met the love of his life, De Ann Thomas. They married in Oklahoma City on July 31, 1964 and lived happily together until her passing on July 9th, 2017.

Boonie taught High School Physics and Chemistry in Mill Creek, Oklahoma. After moving to Texas he owned several businesses including Sanders Upholstery in Whitesboro, The Canvas Shop at Grand Pappy Point Marina & BRD industries in Sherman Texas. He was a devoted follower of Christ and church member, serving in various ministries throughout his life.

Boonie is survived by his daughter, Daresa Sofey and husband Jason of Lake Kiowa, two sons David Sanders of Sherman, and Daniel Sanders and wife Shanda of North Richland Hills. Four grandchildren, Adriane Sanchez and husband Chad of Aledo, and Will, Evan and Madeline Sanders of North Richland Hills; and four great grandchildren, Alec, Sloane, Jed and Reese Sanchez of Aledo.
