Barbara Embrey Shipp, age 76, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Monday, September 12, 2022 at Sweetwater Healthcare Center.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 from 5:30 - 7:00 PM.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steven McCaslin officiating. Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Barbara was born on June 24, 1946 in Hamlin, Texas to Roy Lee and Jackie (Brown) Embrey.
She worked as an admissions clerk for Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital before retiring. She also worked for Ennis Transportation. She was a member of Avondale Baptist Church and was a longtime resident of Sweetwater. She was affectionately called "Nana" by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Kevin Shipp and wife Amy of Sweetwater, Texas; son-in-law, Alan Lackey of Abilene, Texas; four grandchildren, Cody Lackey, Ashley Lackey Clairday, Aaron Shipp and Stephen Shipp; and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Aaron Shipp, Stephen Shipp, Cody Lackey, Don Embrey, Tim Neves, and Robbie Rowan.
