Julia R. Brown, 83, a resident of Miller's Merry Manor at Hope, died there at 8:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 27, 2001.

Mrs. Brown moved from Lawton, Okla., to Columbus in 1983. She was a homemaker and a member of Eternal Light Pentecostal Holiness Church in Lawton.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lawton-Ritter-Gray Funeral Home in Lawton. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Myers Funeral Service, Reed & Jewell Chapel on 25th Street, and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at Lawton. Burial will be at Fairlawn Cemetery in Snyder, Okla.

Memorials may be made to the donor's choice of charities.

Mrs. Brown was born in Dexter, Texas, Feb. 2, 1918, the daughter of Henry Lee and Myrtle Lillian Trammell Dean. She married Charles A. "Jack" Brown Dec. 23, 1944, at Vernon, Texas. He died Jan. 15, 1983.

Survivors include a son, Leroy A. Brown of Henryetta, Texas; sisters, Juanita Dempsey of Altus, Okla., and Leo Lance of Houston; a brother, Coy Dean of Vernon, Texas; grandchildren, Deborah Kleinschmidt of Columbus, Larry and Steve Schoolcraft of Morgantown and Mike Furnish of Elwood; and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Charles A. Brown Jr.; a daughter, Jaquetta J. Schoolcraft; sisters, Daisy Odel, Cleo Boling, Opal McKinney and Florence Bennet; a brother, Raymond Dean; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.
