United States Air Force MSgt Joseph Scott Dobson, retired, of San Angelo, died 25 Jan 2008, in his home at 1006 Alpha Circle. He was born 31 May 1947 in Anniston AL.

Mr. Dobson entered the military in Jacksonville, AL, in Dec 1967. He retired with an honorable discharge, 31 Aug 1990, Goodfellow AFB TX with the rank of Master Sergeant.

His record of service includes 7 years of Foreign Service which included Viet Nam, Turkey, and Australia. His military education includes the following: BMTS, 6 weeks, Dec 1967, NCO Leadership School, 4 weeks, Jul 1977, NCO Academy, 6 weeks, May 1985, and NCO Academy, Correspondence, Turkish Language Course, Defense Language Institute, Monterey CA, Honor Graduate, and management and communication courses through various Professional Military Education Academies.

Awards and Recognition include: Ratings of Excellent in all three Inspection General reports while at Goodfellow AFB, Supply Squadron was chosen as Best In Air Training Command three years in a row, and was second in Air Force-wide competition, received the Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, and Air Force Commendation Medal with Oakleaf Cluster.

His military career afforded him the opportunity to make and keep very dear friends and many fond memories.

After his retirement in 1990 he worked for Lock Heed in Saudi Arabia. Upon his arrival back to the United States he attended Angelo State University where he earned his Bachelor of Business Administration, 13 Aug 1993; he later was employed as a Civil Servant, at Goodfellow AFB TX. He was Supply Manager for 17th Logistics Readiness Squadron until his death.

Mr. Dobson was married to Shirley Huntley on 31 July 1991 in San Angelo TX at the Roger's Gazebo Park.

He was preceded in death by his Mother, Sara Josephine Roberson Dobson and his first love, Bertha Grace Livingston Dobson.

Mr. Dobson is survived by his wife Shirley Dobson of San Angelo, father LT. Col. Robert Milton Dobson, retired Air Force and sweet wife Martha of Jacksonville AL, his sister Julia Dobson of Anniston AL.

He is survived by 6 children; Joseph Wade Dobson and his wife Megan of Grapevine TX, Robert Michael Dobson of Alvarado TX, Michele Bowden Wilson and husband Kenneth, Lori Prater Argil and husband Juan, James Prater and Tina, all of San Antonio TX, Jessica Prater of Bossier City LA.

Mr. Dobson is also survived by 13 Grandchildren; Dylan Dobson and Danielle McCue of Pearsall TX, Riley Dobson of Grapevine TX, Victoria Warden Mullaley and husband David, Michael, Donovan, and Ashley Warden, Christopher and Alicia Argil, Devin and Jeremiah Prater, all of San Antonio TX, and Tyler and Camille Duarte of Bossier City LA.

Also surviving Mr. Dobson are 2 great granddaughters; Jacquelyn and Bryona Mullaley of San Antonio TX, several Aunts, an Uncle, many nieces, nephews and a multitude of friends. God has certainly blessed him.
