John Kelly Dixon Jr., 81, of Richmond, died April 7, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Augusta (Ava) Dixon, and their children, Christine and her husband, Robert Jennings, Katherine Anne and her husband, Jack Wilfong, John K Dixon III and his wife, Christine; and their grandchildren, Jacqueline Kelly Glen, Ryan and Lara Wilfong, Jahn K. IV and Robert Dixon; his daughter, Dorothy Gannon and his grandson, Ronnie; and his four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Phyllis Bourne, Frances Poe and Grace and her husband, Charles Porch. After 24 years of service, he retired from the USMC as Sargeant Major, having served in the Pacific Theatre in World War II and the Korean War, awarded two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star with Valor. He also retired from Sears and Roebuck after 20 years. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where the family will receive friends 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and Monday, and where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday. Entombment Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
