Rich was born on September 3, 1960 in Sacramento CA to Roger and Beverley Bonnett. He was
later joined in life by his brother Ray. The family resided in Sacramento but spent much of their
weekends, summers and winter holidays at the Donner Summit family cabin at Donner Ski
Ranch. Rich loved skiing and the outdoors. He talked of all the shenanigans he and 'The Ranch'
kids got into while parents were visiting at the ski lodge. It was a special place for him.

The family moved from Sacramento to Anchorage, Alaska in the early 1970's. They were avid
outdoor people and took many hiking, camping, fishing and river rafting trips together in
Alaska. When they moved back to California they built a new home on Old Highway 40 on the
side hill of Donner Ski Ranch. It was a special place that Rich loved. Rich attended Truckee High
School and graduated in 1978.

After high school Rich attended Sierra College for about a year. But his passion was in fitness
and body building. He worked at several Sacramento gyms; Golds Gym, Capital City Health Club,
and Body and Power health Club.

It was at Body and Power where he met his wife, Heidi (Toyne) Bonnett. They fell in love and
were married in 1988.

Heidi and Rich lived in Carmichael and began their life together. At that time, Rich was starting
to build his own business and created Bonnett Painting. He left the gym business in 1990
around the time their first child, Teagan, was born and moved to Antelope, CA. Rich was a
meticulous painter and always worked with great care and detail to his craftmanship.
After many years of painting and the addition of their second child, Brock, Rich ventured into
the car sales business at various dealerships in Sacramento and Folsom. The family moved to
Folsom in 1998 while Rich worked at Folsom Lake Ford.

Rich was studying and working towards earning his Water Treatment Plant Operator License.
Which he did earn, however at the time there were no open positions in the City of Folsom.
Rich left the car business for a position in Folsom-Cordova Unified School District as a custodian
so he could work more 'normal' hours to be with his family.

Eventually a position with the City of Folsom opened in Parks and Rec and Rich took that
position to get in the door. He was able to transferred to Water Treatment Facility and worked
as a groundsman while learning the skill of water treatment. His meticulous attention to detail
and good work was appreciated by the city and plant employees. He retired early from the city
in 2016.

Rich loved his family and took every opportunity he could to be involved in their life. From
taking the family camping, boating, fishing, and supporting both children's sports and
recreational activities he was most happy when spending time with his family. He had a tender
heart and cherished Teagan and Brock with all his being. He would leave them special notes in
the morning, play practical jokes on them and just loved being their dad. Rich supported Brock
in his mountain biking team and Teagan in her softball and golf. Always practicing with them to
help them improve their skills.

Rich met Heidi at Body and Power Health Club in 1986 where they both had a common interest
in fitness. They hit it off and the rest is history. Rich and Heidi were married in 1988. June 11,
would have been their 34 th anniversary. Early in their marriage and for almost 25 years they
loved to camp, boat, ski, travel to visit family and day trips to Tahoe. They were able to take a
few trips before Alzheimer's took away Rich's ability to enjoy such adventures. He was brave to
go to Bali with Heidi to attend a week long yoga retreat. They travelled to Hawaii, Jamaica, and
took a longship cruise on The Rhine River visiting Switzerland, Germany, France and the
Netherlands.

One of Rich's favorite musicians, Michael Franti, granted Rich a concert wish where he received
backstage passes and VIP treatment by Michael. Rich loved his music and he could always be
found snapping his fingers and jumping to the tunes of Michael Franti and Spearhead.

Rich also loved to build with his hands. He made several furniture pieces for his family, built a
backyard oasis for Heidi, installed flooring and crown molding in his homes. He was a
perfectionist painter and always made his house a home that was enjoyed by all.

Rich is survived by his wife, Heidi Bonnett, their children Teagan and Brock Bonnett, and his
brother Ray Bonnett, cousin Jim Bonnett and Aunt Mac Bonnett.

He is also survived by many extended family members; David and Shelley Toyne, Babette and
Joe Hensley, Teresa Montague, Michael Toyne, and Patricia Toyne. Nieces and nephews; Tony
Pitts, Chris Pitts, Ashely Salazar, Xavier Craig and many great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Roger and Beverley Bonnett, Grandparents Rebekah
and Wilfred Bonnett and Mary Catherine and Howbart Bonnett.

If you knew Rich you knew he was a practical joker and never missed an opportunity to make
you laugh. His jokes on friends at the gym and home are well known and remembered with his
signature hearty laugh. His sense of humor, generous heart and gregarious character is his
lasting legacy to all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed.
