Mrs. Julia Mary Ann Black, 83, died Sunday evening , Dec. 20, at the home of her son Cecil, with who, she had lived since 1937. She was ill only a few days but had not been in good health for some time.
Funeral services will be Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 23 at 2 o'clock, at the First Baptist church, following a brief service at the house. The Rev. Roland Andrews, pastor. will officiate and burial will be in East Lawn. Grandsons will serve as casket bearers.
Mrs. Black was born Oct. 31, 1870, at Alden, Iowa a daughter of John C. and Mary Nott Dutton. She was married to Jesse Black and was the mother of 13 children, of whom ten are living. The Blacks came to Kossuth 43 years ago, and Mr. Black died in 1948.
Surviving are three brothers, Jack Dutton, Eagle Grover: Burt Dutton, West Concord, Minn; Ben Dutton, Iowa Falls; and two sisters, Beaulah Cisson, Ky.; and Maude Cochran, Tolono, Ill.
The ten children are Mae Wenkelman, Wall Lake; Grant Black, Hawick, Minn; Lyle and Cecil, Algona; Cleo, Ray and Mary Baer, But; Pearl Jones, Bancrott; Irene McDonough of Odebolt; Lena Farrell, Cedar Falls. There are 35 grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Black had been a member of the Burt Chapter of the Rebekahs many years.
