Lois Nicholl Barry, 96, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at Hospice Cleveland County. Born August 13, 1923 in Milwaukee, WI, she was the daughter of Emma Vanselow and Enoch Nicholl; where she lived until her marriage on December 19, 1945.

She leaves behind Leon (Lee) Barry, her husband of 73 years; daughter Susan Vasquez and husband Luis; a son, Craig Barry; three grandchildren, Hillary Cocke and husband Andrew, Hunter Barry and Haley Nicholl Barry; great grandchild, Parker Cocke; niece Joyce Gessner and husband Andrew, as well as nephew Robert Chambers and wife Jane.

Lois was a volunteer at Cleveland County Hospital serving more than 10,000 hours; she was a member of the Shelby Chapter of the American Contract Bridge League and other bridge clubs in Shelby and Kings Mountain; she was also a member of the Neal Senior Center.

Lois worshiped God as a Lutheran all her life, and was active in her church, Ascension Lutheran Church in Shelby, NC where she will be inurned in a private service in the columbarium. A memorial service will be held at Saturday 11:00AM, on October 5, 2019 at Ascension Lutheran Church, 300 N. Lafayette Street, Shelby, NC 28150 (704) 487-5679. Visitation will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ascension Lutheran Church, P.O Box 266, Shelby, NC 28150 or to Hospice Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, NC 28150.
