Homer Martin Dobkins, 92, of Columbus, died Friday, December 28, at his home in Columbus.
He was born November 20, 1915, in Burden, Kansas, the son of Leonard Simpson and Menervia Jane Fletcher Dobkins.
While living in Columbus Homer married Martha Elizabeth McCormick on December 12, 1938, in Fredonia, Kansas. She Survives. They began their married life in Columbus. On December 12th, 2007, Homer and Martha celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary.
Homer worked for Hewlett Packard in Colorado until his retirement in 1978. In 1982, Homer and his wife Martha returned to Columbus.
Homer was a member of the First Baptist Church in Crestline.
Surviving include two sons, H. Wayne Dobkins of Columbus, and David L. Dobkins, of Durango, Colorado, three daughters, Betty Burr, of Columbus, Mary Lou Brauch, of Platteville, Colorado, and Margaret Ann, of Loveland, Colorado; twelve grandchildren, and twenty great-grandchildren. Three sisters, Dorothy Bradway, of Wichita, Kansas; Maxine Folmer, of Fort Collins, Colorado: Mildred Lerner, of Sun City, California. One brother, Walter Dobkins, of Tucson, Arizona.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, at the First Baptist Church in Crestline.
Burial will be in the Edgmand Cemetery in Columbus.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Arrangements are under the direction of Murdock [Derfelt] Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to The First Baptist Church in Crestline, Kansas.
