Miriam "Mimi" Lowell Page February 9, 1935 - December 29, 2021
Miriam Lowell Page, a long-time resident of West Caldwell died on December 29, 2021 at the age of 86 after a brave battle with progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP). Affectionately known as "Mimi", she died peacefully at Crane's Mill. Mimi was born on February 9, 1935 to Martha and Raymond Jones and grew up in Glen Ridge, NJ. She graduated from Glen Ridge High School as co-valedictorian in 1953 and was inducted into the Glen Ridge High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2007 as one of the most prolific and diverse student athletes of her time. She set a record by earning five varsity letters and was named to the All-State Field Hockey Team. Mimi earned a B.S. degree in Home Economics from Penn State and a M.A. degree in Elementary Education from Columbia University. While at Penn State, she was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority, the field hockey team and many clubs. After college, she taught first grade at Elmwood School in East Orange and then ran her own private tutoring business for 35 years as she raised her four children. She married her late husband, Fred, in 1959 and enjoyed 60 years of marriage. They lived in West Caldwell with their children for many years until moving to the Crane's Mill Retirement Community. Mimi also loved socializing with friends and family at their Pocono house. She enjoyed golf, tennis, sewing, baking, bridge/mahjong and getting involved in her community. She was a beloved scout leader in Girl and Cub Scouts for 10 years. She became a charter member of the American Association of University Women, later known as the University Women of West Essex where she held the positions of Scholarship Chairman for 20 years and Treasurer for 25 years. The children in her life were her greatest passion and joy. She spoiled her grandchildren who will always remember her for her homemade cookies and loving heart. Mimi was preceded in death by her loving husband and her son, Tommy. She is survived by her daughter, Janet Hennessey, her husband, Emmett; sons: Bill Page and James Page; and grandchildren: Audrey, Dennis and Matthew Page; Andrew, Tara and Colleen Hennessey; Owen, Alden and Ruby Page; Ryan and Katie Page. A funeral service will be held in The First Presbyterian Church of Caldwell on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Immediately following, a burial will take place at the Prospect Hill Cemetery.
