GILBERT RAY BEAM, 82, died December 20, 2007 at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, MS, after a long illness. He was born in Forest City, NC. on June 22, 1925 to the late Marie Horn Beam and Ray Beam. Gilbert was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church for almost 49 years. He served as a deacon and was in the choir and the orchestra. His favorite hobbies were playing the trumpet, singing, diving, golfing and reading. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. He served in the Pacific Theatre action on the U.S. Tisdale. After the war he attended in the University of N.C. and was on the diving and swimming team. His service will be held at Bellevue Baptist Church on Thursday December 27, at 1 p.m. Visitation will be from 12-1 p.m. at the church. Burial will be on Friday at 9 a.m. in the West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Dalton Beam and a son, Gilbert Franklin Beam of Southaven, MS; three grandchildren of Norman, OK, Stephen Beam, Elizabeth Beam, and Emily Beam; a sister, Evangeline Beam; and a niece, Sylvia Morehead of Spartanburg, SC, and many other relatives.
