James Oscar Green, 86, of Live Oak, died September 27 in the Surrey Place Convalescent Center after an extended illness. The Live Oak native, and life long resident was owner and operator of Green's Furniture Company. He was a member of the First Advent Christian Church where he had served as an elder for over 50 years. He was a charter member of the Live Oak Elks Lodge #1165 and a former Live Oak Jaycee. He is survived by his wife, Annie, Live Oak, one son, Ron Green, Live Oak, two daughters, Judy Mitchell, Quitman, GA., Jackie Kirby, Live Oak; two sisters, Clifford Peterson, Dowling Park, and Kate Scott, Live Oak; three brothers, W.M. Green, Gulf Port, Miss., Paul Green, Frostproof, and Gordon Green, Live Oak; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Services were held September 29, at 11 AM in the First Advent Christian Church with the Rev. Allan Meuter and Dale McCullers officiating. Interment was in the Live Oak Cemetery. Pallbearers were Casey Chaney, Jim Mitchell, Bill Guest, James McCullers, Ronnie Kirby and Brack Jackson. Honorary pallbearers were John Saunders, Harvey Perry, Earl Voyles, Buford Sweat, John Paul Schneider, Ernest Holmes, Rocky Hamilton, Johnnie Smith, Dan Chandler, Jr., Omar Richardson, Russell Feathers, A.J. Gill, and H.F. Evans. Harris Funeral Home of Live Oak was in charge of arrangements.
