She thoroughly enjoyed her 11 great grandchildren. Gwen was preceded in death by her mother, Katie B. Hawthorne; father, Edward Hawthorne; brother, Dale Hawthorne and brother Marlin Hawthorne. She had the ability when she was the leader during the centennial of Macedonia Baptist Church and was a department manager at Dillard's department store. She was a firm believer and supporter against abortion. She felt that every baby was a special gift from God and had potential. When her husband was gone for revivals and other speaking engagements, she kept the home fires burning and provided a genuine steadfastness for her children.
Internment Wednesday September 14, 2002, at Hazelwood Cemetery in Springfield, MO.
