Suggested edit: Laura Gwendolyn (Hawthorne) Hufft, 90, went to be with her Heavenly Father on September 10, 2022. Gwen is survived by her husband of 72 years, Dr. Charles H. Hufft; sister, Alta L. Brians; son, Brent (Shawn) Hufft; and daughter, Robin G. Hufft. Gwen was the grandmother to Brenna (Buddy) Davis, Charles A. (Anna) Hufft, Paul (Jerica) Hufft and Bailey (Greg) Harris. She thoroughly enjoyed her 11 great grandchildren. Gwen was preceded in death by her mother, Katie B. Hawthorne; father, Edward Hawthorne; brother, Dale Hawthorne and brother Marlin Hawthorne. She had the ability when she was the leader during the centennial of Macedonia Baptist Church and was a department manager at Dillard's department store. She was a firm believer and supporter against abortion. She felt that every baby was a special gift from God and had potential. When her husband was gone for revivals and other speaking engagements, she kept the home fires burning and provided a genuine steadfastness for her children.
Internment Wednesday September 14, 2002, at Hazelwood Cemetery in Springfield, MO.
