In addition to his wife and his daughter he is survived by his sister Kay Liadis (George) of Boynton Beach, Florida; his brother Michael Georgelis (Diane) of Lancaster, Pennsylvania; his sister Anna Soukas (Anastasios) of Jacksonville, Florida; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his niece, Erin G. Liadis.
Jim graduated as the salutatorian of his high school class from The Linsly School in Wheeling, West Virginia, in 1954. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Cincinnati and his Masters in Business Administration from Purdue University. He lived in Ohio and Pennsylvania until 1973 when he moved to Salt Lake City.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the General Electric Company, the Sperry Univac Corporation, and later became the owner of Crystal West Inc., an ice cream products distributor in Salt Lake City.
Jim was a college and professional football enthusiast and an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Ohio State Buckeyes fan. During football season, he and his brother were on the phone every Saturday and Sunday to discuss the games.
The most important part of Jim's life was his family - his wife, Nancy and his daughter, Jay, who were his support system, especially during the difficult days of his illness; his siblings; and his nieces and nephews. He kept close contact with his siblings, nieces and nephews and enjoyed the many phone conversations he had with all of them.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jim's name may be made to the Primary Children Hospital or the Huntsman Cancer Institute.
His family is very thankful for the excellent care Jim received during his illness from the doctors, nurses and staff Huntsman Hospital - especially those in the Critical Care Unit who were with us during his last few days. Additionally, His daughter wishes to express her deep gratitude to George Anastasapoulous for his help in making arrangements for Father Mario to come from Ogden to deliver prayers & last rites. May god bless you, always.
A private service has been held for family due to the SARS-Cov-2 pandemic. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date when family and friends may gather again with safety.
