Q.T. Coats, Jr., 77, of Big Spring, passed away Sun, Nov 14, 2021 in San Angelo. Memorial service will be held at 2 pm, Mon, Nov 22, 2021 at St. Mary's Episcopal Church.

He was born Jul 28, 1944 in Pecos, TX to Edith Berneice (West) Coats and Q.T. Coats, Sr.

He began his career as a florist/designer through a D.E. program at Big Spring High School working at Quigley's Flowers & Gifts. He later owned Estes Flowers & Gifts and A Timeless Design. He retired from Gaze Flower's in 2019 after 61 years. During this time, he blessed many with his passion for flowers and decorating and this brought joy in his life. Q.T. was not a man of many words, but made up for that in his deeds. Q.T. served as Senior Warden, Vestry, President Canterbury Board, Mentor of youth group and an usher at St. Mary's Episcopal Church.

He is survived by one brother: Clifford "Tommy" Coats; one sister: Debby Reed both of Big Spring; one niece: Marie Leigh of Lubbock; g-nieces: Stormie McMahon and husband Mitchell, Elizabeth Rice and Claire Rice, of Midland; g-nephew: Ryan McMahon of Midland and his uncle: G. A. "George" West and spouse Judy, of Big Spring.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Q.T., Sr. and Berneice "Granny" Coats and one niece, Deedra Lynn Rice.

Q.T. has gone home to his loved ones waiting. All is appreciated by family for Gay and Steve Herren, Gloria and Howard Bain, Jordon and Mary Lou from Kindred Home Care, Inspirations Flowers & Gifts and The VA Medical Center. He was loved by many and will be missed by all.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Mary's Episcopal Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.
