John Gordon Gent - Our beloved brother, uncle, and friend, John Gent of Springfield, ON, has passed away on November 30, 2021, at the age of 60 years. He will be dearly missed by his sisters Marie (late Daniel Giret) and children Joelle, Jeremy and Jonathan; Betty(Rod Hope) and children Brandi, Sabrina, Candace, Jacqueline, Brittney, Chelsey and Brandan; Doreen (David Shepherd) and children Dylan, Ethan and Tanner as well as several grand nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; Beulah May Rickard and Gordon Phillip Gent and his infant sister Rhea Lynn.

John was a third-generation dairy farmer who operated Gentle Acres with his sister Doreen. Together they continued their father's work of operating an award-winning high production dairy herd. John was an integral part of the Mount Vernon farming community who was known for his sense of humour as well as his ability to find solutions to tricky situations and fix any equipment issues. He was the "go-to" guy in the neighbourhood. Working in the shop, caring for the cattle, and sharing a good chat with neighbours were parts of John's love of the farm life which he enjoyed sharing with his three sisters and their families. Known affectionately as Uncle Johnny, he was a treasured uncle and the glue of the family. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

A private service will be held for family at the Bieman Funeral Home, 3970 Hamilton Road, Dorchester with interment at Dorchester Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in John Gent's name to The Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of Canada, Toronto, ON, would be appreciated.
