Funeral services for Mr. Wiley "Steve" Nelms, 33, resident of Vaiden were held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 3, 1991 at the First Baptist Church in Kosciusko with Dr. Lavon Moore officiating. Burial was in the Vaiden City Cemetery.
Mr. Nelms died March 1, 1991 of cancer at Montfort-Jones Memorial Hospital in Kosciusko. He was the son of Bryant Nelms and the late Mildred Harvey Nelms.
Mr. Nelms was a graduate of East Holmes Academy in 1976, attended Holmes Community College and received a Master's Degree from Mississippi State University. He started with Mississippi Cooperative Extension Service in 1981 and had been a county agent for Attala County MCES since 1988, and had also served MCES in Marks and Tunica counties. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Kosciusko.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Shaneyfelt Nelms of West; his daughter, Elizabeth Nelms of West; his son, Bryant Nelms of West; his father, Bryant Nelms of Vaiden; two brothers, Bill Nelms of Senatobia and Dr. Robert Nelms of Houston, Texas; and three half brothers, Jimmy Manuel and Lee Manuel, both of Vaiden, and Johnny Manuel of Texas.
Serving as pallbearers were Milton Boyd, Joe Boyd, Danny Joe Barron, Dennis Dean, Ray Rutledge and Jesse Stewart.
Nowell Funeral Service of Kosciusko was in charge of arrangements.

Originally buried at Vaiden Cemetery, but removed to Parkway cemetery in June 1991, at request of his wife and family. Age: 33 y, 0 m, 2 d.
