Alice B. Gilstrap, 83, of Independence, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, December 04, 2007 at Hospice Home in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Alice was born April 27, 1924 in Independence, Kansas to Ray and Sarah (Overturf) Olney.

She was raised and attended Independence schools, graduating from Independence High School.

She married Darrel Gilstrap on May 31, 1942 in Independence, Kansas. He preceded her in death on June 29, 1999.

They made their home in rural Independence where they farmed for numerous years.

Alice worked at City Publishing as an office proof reader and she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Independence.

Alice is survived by two daughters, Marcia Jabben of Independence, KS, and Gena Duncan of Fort Wayne, IN; three grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two sisters, and one grandson.

Graveside services will be December 08, 2007 at Mount Hope Cemetery, Independence, Kansas, with Mike Alford of the First Baptist Church officiating.
