Kalen Lenice Altis also known as Mimi was called home August 29, 2021. She was born on May 19, 1959 to Rodney and Shirley Howard in Odessa, Texas, she was an only child. She graduated from Permian High School in 1977. While at Permian, she was a part of their swim team. After high school, she attended Odessa College. While Kalen was still attending high school she met Billy Joe Johnson. They married in 1977 and had 3 children, Amy, Brandon, and Cody. Later in life she met the love of her life Wayne Altis, they married on August 23, 1994 in Palestine, Texas. They later moved to Odessa, Texas where she worked for Taurus Manufacturing for 14 years.
Kalen skied under the Golden Gate Bridge. She loved Mickey Mouse and enjoyed gardening. Roses were her favorite flower no matter what color they were. She had a magic touch when it came to plants and flowers. She loved to go shopping; one of her favorite stores to shop at was Hobby Lobby. She had 7 grandchildren who meant the world to her. You could always find her baking some kind of homemade cookies, pies, or candy.
Kalen is preceded in death by her father Rodney Howard, grandparents Wayne and Opal Howard, grandparents Jack and Frances McLeod, and stepfather Leo Davidson.
She is survived by her mother Shirley Davidson of Van, Texas. Husband Wayne Altis of Odessa, Texas. Her Aunt Linda Oden and husband Mike Oden of Odessa, Texas. Daughter, Amy Johnson Hack and husband, Jerry Hack of Van, Texas. Sons, Brandon Johnson of Palestine, Texas, Cody Johnson and wife Trysha Johnson of Odessa, Texas. Grandchildren Kane Pearson of Tyler, Texas, Shayla Hack of Palestine, Texas, Baylea Hack of Van, Texas. Jay Johnson, Grayson Johnson, Jaksyn Johnson, and Gavyn Johnson all of Odessa, Texas. Many other cousins and friends.
Services will be held Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at 2pm. At Acres West Funeral Home in West Odessa. Brother Wayne Shelton will be officiating. Graveside services to follow at Sunset Cemetery. Pallbearers include Mike Oden, Jerry Hack, Kane Pearson, , Corey Barber, Bradley Porter and Clay Creswell.
