Ray was born on December 26, 1959 in Crane Texas to Raymond Weatherby Sr. & Dixie (Shaver) Weatherby.

Ray was a proud Crane-ite & always talked about how he raised hell on the football field. He loved drag racing in his 69′ GTO Judge, watching his boys (Los Angeles Rams) play some football, hunting & draggin' main with his girl Tam. He graduated from Crane High School in 1978 & then married his high school sweetheart Tammie Smith in August of 1980. They had their first daughter, Tamra, in July of 1982 & their second daughter Tasha, in September of 1985. Ray & family moved to Midland where he started working for the Midland County Sheriff's Office in 1987. Starting out as a jailor he worked his way up to Patrol and then Criminal Investigations. As Sergeant in CID, he was the MCSO Crime Stoppers Coordinator for several years then was promoted to Lieutenant over Criminal Investigations until retiring in July of 2019. Ray always lived life on the edge and he loved every minute of it…He was a devoted husband, daddy, grandpa, brother, brother in blue and friend.
