RUTH STOREY
Age 81, a native Atlantan, died January 22, 2003. She was a daughter of the late Hiram Abiff and Annie S. Terrell and was preceded in death by her husband Harold C. Storey, Sr.; son, H. Clinton Storey, Jr.; and brother, H. A. Terrell, Jr. She attended Goldsmith Elementary, Maddox Junior High and Commercial High School. She began working with Rich's Department Store in 1948 and retired after 37 years of service. She worked at the downtown store for 27 years starting her career as a hostess in the Magnolia Room/Tea Room. After working many years as a supervisor in the Employee's Cafeteria, she was promoted to manager of the "Second Floor Bridge Snack Bar" which she operated for 12 years. The last 10 years of her career with Rich's was spent managing food operations at Rich's Perimeter Store, Rich's Stone Mountain Warehouse, and Rich's food services at the World Congress Center and IBM. After retiring from Rich's she began her second career, which lasted another 10 years, as a hostess at the Stone Mountain Inn Restaurant. She was a member of the Clarkston Baptist Church for more than 35 years, recently transferring her letter to the First Baptist Church of Duluth. She is survived by her son, Danny R. Storey and his wife Linda; grandchildren, John W. Storey and wife Sue, Kevin B. Storey and wife Jenny, Kipley Storey Morrow and husband Charles; great grandchildren, Sarah, Jared, Amber and Zoe; sister, Mildred Clark; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, January 25th. Graveside service at Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the A. S. Turner Funeral Home.
