James W. Geisey, 83, of Kent died on Sunday, December 13, 2020. He was born on November 24, 1937 in Canton, OH to Raymond and Virginia Geisey.

Music was a big part of Jim's life: he was a choir director at the First Congregational Church in Canton, sang with the Society of Barbershop Quartet Singers in America, and, after joining the Bahá'í Faith while in the army, he toured extensively with the Voices of Bahá choir.

Following his long career at Rotek, Jim was an active member of many community organizations including the local chapter of the NAACP, Kent State University's Campus Ministries, Kent Interfaith Alliance, Akron Area Interfaith Council, Kent Environmental Council, and the League of Women Voters. Jim also enjoyed playing tennis and coached the local high school girls' team for several years.

Jim is survived by his daughters, Kerin (John) Hickin, Dianne (Mick) Nagy, grandchildren Jack, Mauri, and Barbara Hickin as well as his sister, Jacqueline Segal. Jim was preceded in death by his wife Barbara, sisters Carroll and Suzanne, brother Ray, and his parents.

A graveside service (limited to 50 attendees) will be held at Standing Rock Cemetery on Thursday, December 17th, at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Services in care of Bissler and Son's Funeral Home and Crematory.
