Mrs. Tipton was born May 9, 1930, in Union a son of the late Woodie and Mollie Forrester Trammell. She retired after 41 years from Milliken & Co.—Monarch Plant. Mrs. Tipton was a devoted member of Sardis United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for 50 years. She was a charter member of Woodmen of the World, a volunteer at Foster Park Elementary School for 17 years, a member of the Veteran's Day Parade Planning Committee and sang with the Music Makers at the nursing homes. Mrs. Tipton was a member and Chaplain of American Legion Post 22 and served as a volunteer at Wallace Thompson Hospital and as Chaplain for 23 years.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary "Lucy" Jenkins of Union; a granddaughter, Kaye Jenkins and fiancé Mason Roark of Union; two grandsons, Johnny Jenkins and life partner, Ed Sneed of Greenville and Leonard Stanley Tipton, Jr. of Darlington; a great granddaughter, Jennifer Porter and husband David of Fountain Inn; two great-great-grandsons, Troy and Ben Porter; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sons, Robert Allen Tipton and Rev. Leonard Stanley Tipton, Sr.; a daughter, Cheryl Hope Tipton; two sisters, Vera Boulware and Juanita Corley; and two brothers, Marvin Trammell and Samuel Trammell.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at Sardis United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Jeff Farmer. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM prior to the services at the Church.
