Early Life: William "Bill" was born March 8, 1928, in Greenville, Mississippi, to Robinson Vernon Newman and Annie Laura Newman.
Life's Work | Service | Interests: On February 4, 1950, he married Bess Rogers Small in Greenwood, Mississippi. Bill attended the University of Virginia and Mississippi State University. He also enlisted in the United States Army and was a paratrooper. He was the consummate salesman and worked in the funeral business for many years. He was an avid gardener and loved to attend the sporting events of his grandchildren. He loved to barbecue and was known for his smoked turkey and chicken. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Bill served as bishop. He and his wife, Bess, served a full-time mission for the Church in Chinle, Arizona. They served as temple workers in the Houston Texas Temple and the Dallas Texas Temple. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. William Pippin Newman, of Provo, Utah, passed away Tuesday, July 27, 2021. He was 93.
Survived By: His daughter, Laura Newman Nixon (Clair), of Provo, Utah; 10 grandchildren: Julie Daley (Neal), Will Nixon (Kelly), Elizabeth Harmer (Larry), John Nixon (Sheree), Michael Nixon (Julia), David Nixon (Jessie), Catherine Pyfer (Bryan), Rachel Bills (Craig), Emily Hill (Taysom) and Timothy Nixon (Micah); and 34 great grandchildren.
Preceded In Death By: His wife, Bess; his parents; and his brother, Robinson Vernon Newman II.
