Actress. Her father was playwright and screenwriter John Morfit Kirkland, her mother was stage, film and TV actress Nancy Carroll, she followed her parents paths into the entertainment industry and made her Broadway debut with the production "For Keeps" (1944). During the remainder of the decade, she appeared in numerous plays which include the George Abbott production "Snafu" (1944), "Years Ago" (1946 to 1947) written by Ruth Gordon and "Young and Fair" (1948 to 1949). During the 1950s, she acted in a wide range of TV programs and accumulated scores of credits with "Suspense," "Actor's Studio," "The Ford Theatre Hour" and a recurring role as 'Betty' in the series "The Egg and I" (1951 to 1952). During the 1970s, she was a casting director for several notable TV series of which include "All in the Family," "Good Times," "The Jeffersons" and "Diff'rent Strokes." Her half sister was acclaimed ballerina Gelsey Kirkland. She was married to playwright David Bevan ("Stalag 17") until her death.
