Soldiers Grave
Pearl Rivers

Tread lightly, 'tis a soldiers grave,
A lonely, mossy mound;
And yet to hearts like mine and thine
It should be holy ground.

Speak softly, let no careless laugh,
No idle, thoughtless jest,
Escape your lips where sweetly sleeps
The hero in his rest.

For him no reveille will beat
When morning beams shall come;
For him, at night, no tattoo rolls
Its thunders from the drum.

Tread lightly! for a man bequeathed,
Ere laid beneath this sod,
His ashes to his native land,
His gallant soul to God.

The memorial that you have in the Brown Cemetary for Andrew Jackson Brown (1841-1929) appears to be a memorial for my great great grandfather who had the exact same name, year, month and day of birth and death as your Andrew has, His burial information has him listed as Andrew J Brown. My great great grandfather's wife's name was Nancy Caroline DePriest and like your Andrew, he was also in the civil war. He and his wife have a memorial at the Edwards Cemetary on Cane Creek in Hickman County, Tennessee, but it is possible that they were actualy buried at the the Bethel Cemetary which is not far from the Edwards Cemetary. (So very often the old grave sites in these two cemetaries are listed in the wrong one.) . ----If my great great grandfather had been buried in a "Brown" Cemtetary it would have been in the other Brown Cemetary in Lewis County instead of the one the one that you have him listed in. The other Brown Cemetary is much closer to where he lived and it is where his parents and grandparents were buried.
There may have been an Andrew Jackson Brown buried in the cemetary that you manage, but in my opinion it's very doubtful that he would have had the exact same date of birth and date of death as my great great grandfather had.
