W. R. Leach, born on July 19, 1848, was the son of Preston Lawrence and Nancy Elizabeth (Atkins) Leach and married Hattie Lavena Sharp on August 3, 1878 in Knox County, Tennessee. Preston Lawrence Leach was born in 1825 in Anderson County, Tennessee and died on January 8, 1868 in Collin County, Texas. Preston Leach was the son of William and Sally (Sarah) Sanders Leach. Preston's wife, Nancy Elizabeth was born in 1825 in Tennessee and was he daughter of Joseph and Dicey (Halbert) Atkins. William Russell and Hattie Lavena Leach were the parents of sixteen children, all single births. Some of the children were Elizabeth Belle, Charlotte, John Calvin, Louella, Ollie, Joseph Robert, Tennessee (known as Tennie), William Weatherford, Minerva, Hattie Lavena (same as her mother), Charles Spurgeon, Howard Tulley, John Russell (Jack) and Milton Leach. Louella left home and was not found by the family. Charlotte Leach married Clarence Moore and Ollie Leach married Jeff Coleman. William Russlell (W. R.) and his family farmed and ranched his 960 acre spread just outside Godley, Texas and about eight miles from Cresson. Some of his sons were electricians and practiced the trade. Two became school teachers. W. R. always wanted one of his sons to become a minister and it was youngest, Milton, who answered his father's desire and his Father's calling but quite a few years after W. R. had passed as Milton was only thirteen months old when his dad died. The youngest son, Milton, was a topnotch electrician himself before deciding that he was called into the ministry. W. R. Leach died on August 14, 1906 and is buried in the Cemetery in Cresson, Texas beside his wife, next to one of his sons, John Calvin Leach and near his great grandson, Donald Wayne Welch.
