After a 7 decade-long love story, heaven has welcomed Victor and Ethel Svatek. Victor passed away November 8, 2019 at home surrounded by his loving family. 556 days later - May 17, 2021, Ethel was accepted into heaven by her husband and their sons, Christopher and Douglas.

Their real-life romance officially began October 3, 1951; when Victor married Ms. Ethelene Socha. Not long after their marriage, Victor joined the U.S. Army and the young couple moved to California. Upon his return from the Korean War, they were blessed with their oldest son, Christopher and moved back home to Texas. They quickly settled in Houston and opened the TV Specialist Repair Shop. Two more sons would bless the Svatek's - Victor and Douglas.

Upon his retirement, as Technical Director for San Jacinto Junior College in 1992, Victor and Ethel decided it was time to relax and follow their life-long dream of retiring to the lake. After much deliberation, they decided on Lake Livingston. They purchased a piece of lake-front property in Pine Shadows and quickly began building their dream home with their own hands from the ground up. Between Victor's love of woodworking and Ethel's passion for gardening - they forged a waterfront oasis for their family to enjoy for generations to come. It was here in this oasis that Victor and Ethel loved to watch the grandchildren ride the jetskis and simply play in the water.

Victor and Ethel were a fun, sociable couple. When they weren't entertaining the grandkids, they had a shared passion for gardening, traveling, both in their RV and cruising, square dancing, and their weekly Friday night Poker games with friends. There is no doubt, they were completely devoted to one another. It was in this devotion to each other that they instilled the virtues of integrity, honesty, loyalty, and determination in each of their sons.

Victor and Ethel are survived by their son, Victor; and grandchildren, Christopher, Maegan, Darrell, Emily, Katy, Jeff, and Nicholas; along with numerous other relatives and a host of wonderful friends.

Graveside services for Victor and Ethelene Svatek, of Livingston, Texas, will be held Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Bryan, Texas. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 3, 2021 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas.
