Fayette County - GALE PIERCE WATKINS, 48, resident of Moscow, postal clerk for the United States Postal Service and wife of Duane Watkins, died November 6, 2007. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville. Visitation will continue from 1-2 p.m. Thursday at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in the 45 Cemetery at Moscow. Also survived by her son, Daniel "Dee" Watkins of Moscow; her brother, Sonny (Terry) Pierce of LaGrange; niece, Tina Hensley; nephew, Jesse Pierce and two great-nieces, Ashleigh and Alexis. LENITA GAIL PIERCE WATKINS, lifelong resident of the LaGrange-Moscow areas and wife of Duane Watkins died at 9:30 A.M. Tuesday, November 6, 2007 at the Methodist Hospital of Germantown. She was 48 years of age and died following an extended illness.

Funeral services for Mrs. Watkins were conducted at 2 P.M. Thursday, November 8th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. Rex Wilburn and Rev. Wayne Hodge officiating. Interment followed in the 45 Cemetery on Hwy. 57 near Moscow. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Home—Main Chapel.

Mrs. Watkins was born in Somerville January 20, 1959, the daughter of the late Johnny Ward Pierce, Sr. and the late Reba Yager Pierce. She was educated in Fayette County Schools and was a graduate of the Rossville Academy in 1977. Mrs. Watkins was a member of the 45 Baptist Church and was employed in the Payroll Department of the Troxel Manufacturing Company at Moscow for 29 years. She was employed by the United States Postal service for the past 9 years.

Mrs. Watkins will be remembered for her love of family, friends and community. She enjoyed special times with family that included cooking and church activities. She enjoyed flower gardening and reading.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Daniel Watkins "Dee" of Moscow; her brother, Sonny Pierce (Terry) of LaGrange; niece, Tina Hensley; nephew, Jesse Pierce and 2 great-nieces, Ashleigh & Alexis.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Howard and Katherine Yager and her paternal grandparents, Newsom and Clara Pierce.

Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Adam Hensley, Austin McCaskill, Jesse Pierce, Aaron Watkins, Jerry Watkins and Joe Yager.

Honorary casketbearers were Billy Adair, James Bell, Randy Gaither, Harold Joyner, Alton "Ruff" Owens and Harold Pierce.
