Austin Elbert Denton, 85, of Pelahatchie, passed away Monday, May 10, 2021, in Jackson following an extended illness.

Arrangements are entrusted to Wolf Funeral Services in Morton. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 12, 2021, from 5:00PM until 7:00PM and Thursday, May 13, 2021, from 10:30AM until 11:30AM. Graveside Services will take place at Hodge Hill Cemetery in Morton on Thursday, May 12, 2021, at 12:00PM with Navy Military Honors.

Mr. Denton was born April 9, 1936, in the Line Prairie community of Scott County. He was the youngest of eight children born to Monroe Frank Denton and Emma Caroline Boon. He graduated from Branch High School then he served his country faithfully in the US Navy, stationed in Hawaii, he also served in the Army National Guard. He worked for the Mississippi Department of Transportation for over 42 years before retiring. He was a lifelong member of Line Prairie Presbyterian Church.

On June 26, 1954, he married the love of his life, Ellie Allen. To them was born one daughter, Connie Jo Denton Bradshaw.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Emma Denton; his wife, Ellie Denton; his daughter, Connie Jo Bradshaw; his brothers, Monroe Earl Denton, James Edward Denton, Woodie Zebbie Denton, Otis Caley Denton, Bobby Lee Denton and his sisters, Lucille McGough and Emma Sudie Limbaugh.

He is survived by his nieces, Theresa Denton, Dorothy Denton Singleton and Frances McGough Bigby and his nephews, Edward Denton, Dalton Denton, Clarke Denton, Douglas Denton, Ricky Denton, Robert Denton and Oscar McGough.
Per his wishes, members of the Patriot Guard Riders will serve as escort and pall bearers.
