Coy V. Burgess of Antlers, Oklahoma died May 6, 2021, just seven days shy of his 84th birthday, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City with his family by his side.

Coy was born in Hall Community on May 13th, 1937. He graduated Antlers High School in 1955 where he lettered in football and baseball. He was recruited by the Major League Kansas City Athletics baseball team out of high school, but decided to play baseball at Oklahoma A&M. On April 1 of 1960, Coy married Joyce Griffin of Atoka. Coy often joked that it was an April Fool's joke that Joyce wouldn't let him back out of. In 1966 Coy went to work for Henderson Properties in Oklahoma City where he met his lifelong friend Travis Henderson. Coy worked for Henderson for several years before returning to Antlers to open his own accounting practice. After about a decade, Coy was lured back to Oklahoma City to work again for Henderson Properties where he stayed until his retirement. Upon retirement, Coy returned to Antlers with Joyce to spend their golden years in his hometown where he kept busy with gardening, woodworking, and feeding deer. Coy loved to share the produce from his garden with friends and neighbors and loved to make furniture in his woodworking shed for his wife and daughter.

Coy is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joyce; his daughter, Kim McClendon along with her husband Jeff of Edmond and their son Christian McClendon; his son, Jay Burgess of Edmond, his sons Ford, Jett, Beck, and daughter Scout Burgess.

He was preceded in death by his parents Henry L. and Venice Burgess as well as his sister Alta Fullingham and his brothers Lowell, Leon, and Donald.

Coy was a man of integrity who in all of his business dealings asked, "Is it right? And is it fair?" He cared deeply for his family and was a great provider in more ways than just financially. He took care of his family until his final days. Coy will be fondly remembered and missed by his family and many friends.
