Marlene was born December 5, 1946, at Jamestown, North Dakota, to Laurence and Edna (Linze) Colebank. She was raised and educated in Goodrich, ND.
Upon graduating from high school Marlene moved to Bismarck and started working in the Treasurer's Office at the State Capital. On November 12, 1966 Marlene married Dean Brown. Together they ran a cattle and grain farm in Baldwin, ND where they raised their two children.
Marlene enjoyed having chickens and became known as "the egg lady" for many years. Dean & Marlene moved north of Bismarck in 1989. She then started her career with KBMY/KMCY tv working as a receptionist and traffic assistant until her retirement.
Marlene enjoyed embroidery, reading, gardening, baking & hosting holidays for her family. Christmas was her favorite holiday & she had many special decorations all around the house including a tree that was always festive. Marlene inherited her dad's gift for gab. She was a wonderful friend to everyone she met, always had a kind word, a warm hug & a big smile. She especially loved her birthday club get togethers, her regular card playing group, her church circle, spending time with the grandkids and caring for her kitty cats & "grandkitties".
She is survived by her husband; daughter Su Brown; son Mike Brown; grandchildren, Hannah and Noah; aunts, Freda, Martha and Marty; sister-in-law Beatriz Colebank and Jackie Ochsner; brother-in-law Curt Brown; many cousins; and nieces and nephews along with many friends.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents; step mother, Esther; brothers, Larry and Burton; sister, Phyllis; and grandson, Daryk; aunts, Anna, Ella, Ann and Grace; uncles, Norman, Maynard, John, Otto and Christ; and special friends, Sharon and Elizabeth.
