Traditionally, Captain Thomas Reade and his wife, Lucy (Gwyn) Reade are said to have had eleven children, but proof only exists to establish the following: Thomas, John, Joyce, Lucy, Mary, and Mildred.

A family cemetery, or burial ground, for the family of Captain Thomas Reade and his wife, Lucy (Gwyn) Reade, was located in the woods on the southeast edge of the present Gloucester Courthouse. The tombstones of two of their children, Thomas Reade, Junior, and Lucy (Reade) Dixon, were removed from the family cemetery in 1939 and taken to the A. P. V. They may be viewed at Ware Episcopal Church (see Epitaphs Of Gloucester And Mathews Counties In Tidewater VA Through 1865, page 72). Only two surviving tombstones were removed, but their remains are still interred in the family cemetery.
