Rodger D Farmer, 68, of Fairfield, loving husband, father and son, entered Heaven on Monday, February 15, 2021.

Rodger was born on September 20, 1952 in Fairfield, IL to Eldon and Billie Farmer. On January 7, 1972, Rodger married the love of his life, Virginia (Jenny) Clark in Albion, IL. They celebrated their 49th anniversary. On June 22, 1988, their son, Lucas Michael Farmer was born.

Rodger graduated in 1971 from FCHS. He attended Lincoln Land Community College. Rodger was baptized into the Baptist faith and as an adult was confirmed into the Lutheran Faith. He is a member of St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Decatur, IL.

Rodger retired from The Kroger Company after 40 years as a Store Manager and from Prairie State Bank after 5 years as a Property Manager.

Rodger was preceded in death by his father, Eldon Farmer and his son, Lucas Farmer.

Rodger is survived by his wife, Jenny, mother, Billie, his sisters, Janet Sue(Andy) Gregory and Sandra (Tom) Sparlin. Jenny’s brothers and sister, Dale Clark, Chuck (June) Clark, Russell Clark and Mary Ellen Chalcraft.

Rodger and Jenny opened their home and heart to 10 exchange students who they consider their bonus daughters, Jennifer (Kee) Kwon, Sunyoung Park, Britney (Brighton) Han, Ashley Fisher and Lida Yao, bonus sons, Alexander (Ugi) Lange, Karsten(Christina) Bulla, Tim Radisch, Seokwan (Mihyeaon) Son, Steve Hyun. Grands, Joshua and Claire Kwon, Angelina and Michelle Lange, Smila, Felix and Marla Bulla and Ji Yoo Son.

Rodger is survived by special nephews and nieces, Shawn and Corey Gregory, Brandon(Sarah) Oliver, Randall (Becky)Baker, Martha(David) Ahlfield, Danielle (Jamie) Kanallakan, Damien Clark, Greg (Vanessa) Chalcraft and many more nieces and nephews. His uncle Lewis(Glenda) Farmer and many cousins.

Rodger had a strong faith in his Lord and Savior, and strong ties to family and friends that became family. Rodger loved life, camping, outdoor activities but most of all , he loved to spend time with his family.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at the North Side Baptist Church in Fairfield, with burial in Maple Hill Cemetery. A public visitation will be held from 12:00pm until the time of service at the church. Memorial donations can be made to the North Side Baptist Church, Safe Haven or American Cancer Hope Lodge in St Louis and will be accepted at the church or at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
