On February 6, 2021, Albert Henry Bauer, 89, was called to heaven by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Al was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on January 26, 1932, to parents, the late Marian Lutz Bauer and the late Albert Norman Bauer. He grew up in Pittsburgh and was active in sports, primarily swimming and his favorite, football. A very patriotic man, he joined the United States Marine Corps to serve his country. While stationed at Camp Lejeune, he joined a buddy for a weekend trip to Raleigh and there he met a sweet, pretty, lady named Helen. That meeting led to a courtship and ultimately a long-lasting marriage of nearly 68 years. He spent the bulk of his working years with Eastern Airlines, based at RDU International Airport. Al was very active in his church, enjoyed working in his yard, loved watching the Pittsburgh Steelers, but most of all, his favorite thing was spending time with his family. He was the best father anyone could ask for. He spent countless hours with his grandchildren, including watching many, many soccer games and dance recitals or just playing baseball in the yard.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Helen Stallings Bauer; daughters Toni Bauer Cox (Rick), Kim Bauer Crutchfield (Paul); grandchildren Cameron Bass (Jonathan), Jordan Crutchfield (Mandi), Kendall Crutchfield, Austin Crutchfield (fiancé Landen Hescock); step-grandchild Jason Cox (Samantha); brother Jack Bauer (Louise), eight great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Edith Mann, and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at Montlawn Funeral Home in Raleigh, NC, on Monday February 15, 2021, at 2 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials made to the Wounded Warriors Project (woundedwarriorproject.org) or Tunnel to Towers Foundation (tunnel2towers.org).
