Marcella Fay (Marcie) Claxton, Springfield, passed away peacefully, December 12, 2012. She was born near Richland, MO, March 25, 1925, to Leslie and Hazel (Black) Kissinger.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Juanita; husbands, Bill Claxton and Howard H. Powelson; her beloved daughter, Joy Peck; and son-in-law, Gary Moore.
She is survived by her loving children, Howard "Bud" Powelson and wife Diane, Don Powelson and wife Stephania, and Sandy Moore; ten grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many treasured friends.
Our mom was truly a blessing and will be deeply missed.
Marcie worked 33 years as a consultant in the cosmetics industry, retiring as a buyer for the Vandever stores in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She also enjoyed traveling. Upon retirement, she returned to Springfield to be near her family.
As a member of Woodland Heights Presbyterian Church she enjoyed and worshipped with her church family. She volunteered at Cross Lines and for the American Cancer Society for several years. She helped patients by donating wigs to lift their spirits.
A memorial service will be held in Woodland Heights Presbyterian Church, 722 W. Atlantic, Springfield, MO, 65803, on Saturday, December 15, 2012, at 4 PM, conducted by Rev. Gregg Essleman.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Woodland Heights Presbyterian Church.
