Judith Marie Abelson West was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on November 11, 1940.  She went to be with Jesus on January 28, 2021.  She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Harold Eugene West, and her mother and father, Evelyn Alma Abelson and Benjamin Bernard Abelson.  She is survived by her son Barry and wife Kristina, and their children Brynn, Anna Kate, Kenzie, and Miles; her daughter Katy and husband Brandon Burk, and their children Lexie and Emily; her sister Sydney Summers; and her “Wombmate” and twin Linda Feather – along with a host of extended family members.  Judy spent most of her growing-up years in Dallas, Texas.  She graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Music in 1965.  She married Harold (Air Force Vet and commercial pilot) on June 12, 1965.  They were married for 52 years, before he passed away in 2017.  Harold and Judy spent most of their married lives in the Houston area.  When Judy wasn’t busy raising Barry and Katy or, in later years, spending time with her 6 grandchildren, she was teaching piano, participating in church activities, traveling with Harold, and getting involved in political causes.  Judy was loved and will be missed by her family and a host of friends whose lives she touched.

Judy’s family members and friends grieve over her passing.  But our grief is not without hope, because we know that “to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.”  We will miss her but are eternally thankful that she in now in a place where there is no fear, anxiety, sorrow, or tears.  She is in the “arms of Jesus,” and we know as Christians that we will see her again when our time here on earth is over.

The funeral service will be held at Peevey Funeral Home Saturday, January 30,  at 5:00pm with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
