Funeral services for Velma Lee Burges, 84, of Rush Springs, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 26, 2001, at the Southern Baptist Church with Rev. Elmer Whitehead officiating.
Velma Lee Burges was born December 15, 1916, in Ninnekah, to Arch Miller and Annie (Boswell) Miller, and died Monday, September 24, 2001, at Grady Memorial Hospital.
She married Arthur G. Burges November 17, 1934, in El Reno, Oklahoma.
He preceded her in death on July 22, 1960.
Velma was a resident of California for 35 years and a Rush Springs resident for 50 years, graduating with the Ninnekah High School Class of 1934. She was a office clerk and a member of the Southern Baptist Church, Rush Springs.
She is preceded in death by 1 daughter, LaDonna Davis, and 1 granddaughter, Patricia Gail Grace.
Survivors include: daughter: Ramona McGuire and husband Brad, of Lancaster, CA; son: Leon Burges and wife Karen, of Rush Springs; 2 brothers: Tom Miller, of Terrell, TX, and Bill Miller, of Ft. Worth, TX; sister: Edith Williams, of Bakersfield, CA; 7 grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren.
Interment will be in the Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel.
