Lula Rae Bliss, 89, of Chambersburg passed away peacefully at home with loved ones by her side. She was born on May 9, 1931 on Winslow Hill, Elk County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late George and Sylvia (Overturf) Berry.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband William Bliss. They are survived by their three children Laura Bliss, David Bliss and Lisa Kaiser (Boyd). She is also survived by her niece Terry Fairman (son Travis); daughter Ginger Gardner; grandchildren: Eric VanSlander (Sawaka Nagano), Stephanie Bonanno (Nick) and Jonathan VanSlander and great granddaughter Carlee Rae Bonanno.

Lula Rae will be remembered by family and friends as a strong, purpose-driven woman and a staunch Republican. She was honored to be voted in as Judge of Elections of Green Township for many terms. She believed in the privilege and the right to vote.

Lula Rae was a graduate of DuBois Business College and remained active in the business world throughout her life. She was a quality control inspector at Sylvania, Emporium, PA; manager of W.T. Grant department store and manager of Redman Jewelry Store/Clock Shop of Chambersburg, PA.

Lula Rae was the founding owner and creator of the Chambersburg Fitness Center (CFC). Throughout her 30 years there she remained active in aerobics and exercise classes. The CFC members and staff were her extended family.

Private gravesite services were held at Morningside Cemetery, DuBois, Pennsylvania.
