Reta Kay Abee, age 81, of Mesquite, TX, passed away Monday, October 5, 2020. She was born August 5, 1939 in Trinidad, TX to James Loyd Johnston and Ollie Scarbrough Johnston.
Reta grew up in Trinidad, where she excelled in High School sports. While attending Henderson County Junior College, she was Homecoming Queen. She married Charles Lee Abee in 1958 and lived with him in Germany for many years during his time in the service. They moved the DFW area in the early 60s and eventually found their home in Mesquite, TX. Reta was a Special Education teacher for many years, and a member of Galloway Avenue Baptist Church for over 30 years. She enjoyed activities with the Red Hat Club, she loved animals, especially her dogs, and also traveling, camping, cooking, crafting and her card groups. Above all, she adored her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Surviving Reta are her husband of 62 years, Charles; daughter Julie Myers and husband David; son, Matt; grandchildren, Zack and wife Shannon; niece, Paula Stephens and children; and nephew, Mark Johnston and children.
