OBITUARY
MRS ELIZABETH SINGLETON: Mrs Elizabeth, relict of the late Ebenezer Singleton, one of the oldest residents of Benalla died at her residence, Arundel Street, on Tuesday last, at the ripe age of 84years. Deceased, an Englishwoman of a type, was a Native of Tregear, and had been a resident of Victoria 57 years, marrying her late husband at the age of 22 in Melbourne, soon after her arrival there from England . She was the mother of a family of 6 boys and four girls, the two first of whom, however, died, one of the surviving eight being, Mr A. H. Singleton, for years a business man of St. James, but now a resident of Benalla. She was a most excellent woman-amiable, charitable and sincere-- and was greatly esteemed, especially among the old identities, to whom, of course, she best known. Her remains were interred on Wednesday last, the Rev. Wm. Parkes, of the Church of England, officiating at the grave, and Mr W..G. Abbett acting Undertaker.
