Melvin "Dale" Brown, son of the late Albert Brown and Ruth (May) Brown was born June 12, 1930 in Newton, Ks., and departed this life on August 21, 2020 at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo. He had attained the age of ninety-years, two months and nine days.

Dale had resided in Van Buren, Mo., for the past forty-six years and was formerly of Gerald, Mo. He worked at Paramount Headwear as a Mechanic in Gerald and then was transferred to Van Buren in 1974 where he became Plant Manager. He was of the Baptist faith, and was Baptized at the age of eighty-one. He had an unending faith in the Lord. Dale was kind hearted, enjoyed life, loved animals, had a great work ethic and was an enthusiastic craftsman for the community and would buy old houses and fix them up to re-sale. He flipped houses before it was popular. He showed unconditional love and was respected by many.

In September of 1949, he was united in marriage to Ruth Walters, she preceded him in death in October of 1983. In January of 1985, he was united in marriage to Virginia Byrd, she preceded him in death in September of 2011.

He is survived by his four children, David Brown of Lyons, Co., Steve Brown and wife Ruthie of Paragould, Ark., Karen Heusted and husband Jack of Fulton, Mo., and Nancy Dorris and Ray of Van Buren, Mo; nine grandchildren, Martha and husband JP, Caroline and husband David, Brenda, Aaron and wife Sarah, Michael, Malika and husband Chris, Melissa and husband Kyle, Jennifer and husband Matthew, Jessica and Cody; sixteen great grandchildren; one sister, Betty Ransier of Torrington, Wy; many nieces, nephews and friends who mourn his passing.

In addition to his parents, Dale was preceded in death by his wife Ruth Brown and wife Virginia Brown; two brothers, Alvin and Elmer and three sisters, Verna, Alberta and Opal.

A Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in the McSpadden Funeral Home in Van Buren, Mo., with the Funeral Services following at 1:00 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Gene Etheridge & Rev. Kristopher Whitaker will be Officiating. Burial will be in the Van Buren City Cemetery in Van Buren, Mo.
