He was born, from best evidence, September 5, 1875 at Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland, and christened September 5, 1876 at Liverpool, Lancashire, England. He is a son of Archibald Morrison and Mary Russell. He and his sister, Christina, are found on the 1881 and 1891 censuses in Mountain Township, Dundas County, Ontario with the family of Thomas Armstrong and Anne Chittick. I suppose they were "home children". On the censuses, they both show surname Morrison, and both show born Scotland. He later was either adopted by the Armstrongs, or assumed the name of Armstrong.
He was married first December 23, 1913 at Morrisburg, Dundas County to Margaret Harriet Laura McAmmond. During World War One, he worked as a machinist at Bethlehem Shipbuilding Company in Buffalo, Erie County, New York, where their only child, Fletcher Russell Armstrong, was born November 6, 1916. They moved to Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan. Laura died 1919 per her headstone, though she appears on the 1920 census.
He was married second August 14, 1922 at Detroit to Charlotte Eleanor McQueen. They later divorced. Charlotte died August 10, 1939 at Highland Park, Wayne County.
