Born on October 22, 1924 in Marietta, MS, he was the son of the late Henry Andrew and Jessie Mae "Burton" (Kitchens) Moreland.

James honorably served his country in the U.S. Army from November 22, 1944 to November 19, 1946. He was an ambulance driver with the Company C 198th Medical Battalion, as well as an accomplished Rifle Marksman. He proudly received the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Army of Occupation Ribbon, Japan Victory Ribbon and two Overseas Service Bars.

On October 4, 1947 in Mantachie, MS, he was united in marriage to Zana Warren. They became the proud parents of three children.

He was a faithful member of the Church of Christ, U.A.W. Local #72 Retirees; and for 25 years he proudly served as a Chief Union Steward. He was a Green Bay Packer fan and all around sports fan. He was an avid fisherman and loved hunting in his younger years. He loved gardening and each year he took pride in the planning and the care of his garden.

James was a proud husband, father and grandfather. He leaves behind his loving wife, Zana; three children, Teresa D. (Paul) Urbans of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, Pam (Stanley) Colvin and Steven (Gretchen) Moreland both of Kenosha. He is preceded in death by his sister Marvee.
