Abbott, Carl W., age 77 of Vandalia, Ohio passed away on May 20, 2007 at his home. Carl was born June 5, 1929 in Indianapolis, IN to William H. & Dovie G. (Stevens) Abbott. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Donald Abbott & Charles Abbott, the mother of his 6 children, Barbara (Abbott) Combs, and son-in-law, Harold Powell. He is survived by his 6 children; daughters, Linda Pitts of Altoona, FL, Brenda Sering and husband Steven of Deltona, FL, Karen Powell of Lewisburg, OH, and "always" son-in-law, David Powell of New Lebanon, Carla Howard of Vandalia, OH, & Kim Berry of New Lebanon, OH; son, Bill Abbott and wife Paula of New Lebanon, OH; 15 grandchildren, Michelle Chamberlain & husband, Todd, Angela Benson & husband, Sheldon, Jimmy Sering & wife, Morgan, Jeremy Powell, Kimberly Powell, Amanda Abbott, Linda Abbott, Billy Abbott, Nicole Abbott, Sheena Abbott, Ruben Abbott, Amanda Mershon & Melisa Howard, Brian Powell, & Josh Berry; 3 great grandchildren, Mya Chamberlain, Tahnya Lurry, & Tyler Hawley, and two bundles of joy on the way; 3 brothers, Kenny & wife, Lois, James & wife, Sylvia, & Larry & wife, Posie; 2 sisters, Betty Reynolds & husband, Joe, & Della Gutwein & husband, John; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, & friends. Carl retired from General Motors after 30 years of service. He was loved and will be missed by many. The family will receive friends and family from 5-8 PM on Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton, OH. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Miami Valley Memory Gardens, Centerville, Ohio.
