For almost 9 decades she lived, prayed, and loved. Her family bids her a beautiful journey as they reflect on her incredible role as the Matriarch of the Pingitore family.

Clara H. Pingitore, age 89 of Kenosha was swept into Paradise by the Angels on Friday, August 24, 2007. She died at The Canterbury House.

She was born on October 31, 1917 in Kenosha, one of five children to the late Henry and Mary (Meyer) Helf. As a child, Clara and her family moved to Russell, IL, returning to Kenosha in 1927.

Her life blossomed when she met and married Anthony R. Pingitore, Sr. in 1937 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. Unfortunately, Tony preceded her in death, but they were blessed to have a growing family that began with their five children. Proud to be a homemaker, Clara also worked at Coopers, Werner's Laundry, Christman's Dairy Burger, and Lakeside Foods.

Clara was a natural mother and grandmother. Her foundation was her faith, and it was richly supplied with learning, living and teaching her family. As a member of Living Light Christian Church, Clara kept her Christian principles strong and shared her love and example with the friends of her church family, and of course her children and children's children.

"Her children arise and call her blessed…" (Proverbs 31:28)

The memories of Sundays after Church at Clara's are a fundamental family bond. For many years – too many to count – Clara delighted in preparing meals for her family. Gatherings were always a celebration that culminated with her trademark soups and desserts. Thankfully, the traditions she forged with her family for so many years will keep her family close and her memory alive at each subsequent gathering.

"Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all. Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised." (Proverbs 31: 29,30)

Left to reflect on the magnitude of Clara's earthly life and the lessons she taught are her five children: Constance "Connie" (Allan) Hall of Mt. Pleasant, WI, Anthony R. Pingitore, Jr. of Buena Vista, CO, JoAnne C. (Daniel) Rubjerg of Kenosha, Timothy J. (Carol) Pingitore of Kenosha, and Peter F. (Debra) Pingitore, Sr. of Kenosha; 14 grandchildren: Claire (Chris) Schoen, Jennifer (James) Beese, Sarah (Eric) Hall-Platz, Suzanne (Landon) Harris, Kristen (Bill) Tshanz, Hans (Jeanna) Rubjerg, Kimberly (John) Lalgee, Korene (John) Cooper, Teresa (Jonathan) Reynolds, Jonathan (Deborah) Pingitore, Rosalie (Chris) Marvin, Andrea (Scott) Lindsley, Peter (Sarah) Pingitore, Jr., and Joel Pingitore; 21 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Margaret Zalubowski of Kenosha.

Along with her parents and husband, Clara was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Monica Hall; two brothers, John and Hank Helf; and a sister, Mable Kettlehut.

The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to the staff of the Canterbury House, Hospice Alliance, Dr. Susan Mattox and Dr. Raymond Knight for all of the loving care given to their mother.
