Husband of Elizabeth Julianne Covington.

Fleming J. served in the Texas Mounted Volunteers during the U.S.-Mexican War from August 2, 1846 to August 17, 1847; and later served in the Confederate States Army during the Civil War in Company B, Texas Cavalry, Hardiman's Brigade, Smith's Army. Fleming was elected Tax Collector and Assessor when Falls County was first organized. He also taught school in the Fish Creek Community (which was later called "Reagan"), in 1856.
