Epifanio ‘Wero’ Abila 90 of Barstow passed away Saturday May 30, 2020 at the Focus Care Nursing Home in Pecos. He was born April 7, 1930 to Juan and Jacoba Rodriguez Abila in Barstow. He was a Christian Catholic, Crusillista and retired.

He married Felix Anchondo June 30, 1951 and were married for 68 years.

Wero was an avid baseball player and fan, he was also an umpire of the game. He loved to listen to listen and dance to music, he was also very good mechanically. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t and wouldn’t fix. He loved his church and would attend regularly until his health declined. He loved his entire family and grandchildren very much. Dad, you will be dearly missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Carmen Abila, sons Eduardo ‘Lalo’ Abila and Roberto Abila, grandson Rudy Abila Jr., sisters Licha Aldez, Leandra Brito, and Natividad Mata, brothers Nicolas, Florencio and Gregorio Abila.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Felix Abila of Barstow, sons Agapito ‘Pito’ Abila and wife Eva of Pecos, Carlos ‘Charlie’ Abila of Ft. Worth, Ruben Abila and wife Anna of Monahans, Daniel Abila of San Angelo, and Rodolfo ‘Rudy’ Abila and wife Rita of Odessa, sister Eufemia Carrasco of Arlington, brothers Julian Abila of Odessa and Pablo Abila and wife Blanca of Pecos.

Wero also leaves to cherish his memory 22 grandchildren and several great and great-great grandchildren.

Due to COVID-19 visitation is set for 50 persons Tuesday June 2, 2020 from 9am-4pm with a Rosary at 2pm at Pecos Funeral Home Chapel.

Mass is set for 10am Wednesday June 3, 2020 at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with Father Jose de la Cruz officiating.

Due to COVID-19 same rule applies at the church. Masks are required at the church.

Burial will follow at Barstow Cemetery.
