He grew up in Mesquite and began his career in the fire service in August of 1983 when he was hired by Plano Fire-Rescue as a firefighter. Gerald promoted to Driver Engineer in June 1999 and was very involved in training his fellow firefighters, especially on the compressed air foam system (CAFS) that he was quite partial to. At Plano Fire-Rescue, Becker, who was lovingly known as "Goon", worked at several fire stations, with the last many years spent at Plano’s Fire Station 3 on B shift.
He is survived by his loving wife: Marian;
Children: Jason Becker and fiancé, Jordan, Taylor Becker and fiancé, Catherine, Kayla Blanton and husband, Eric, Brittany Santoyo and husband, Joshua;
Eight Grandchildren:
Brother: Warren Becker and wife, LaDonna;
Several nieces, nephews, countless cousins and his Plano Fire-Rescue Family.
The family will receive friends for a visitation on Monday, March 16, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Church, 3301 Preston Road, Plano, Texas 75093.
Interment to follow at Laurel Oaks Cemetery, 12649 Lake June Road, Balch Springs, Texas 75180.
